Transportation of tea by sailing vessels is off course not new. We all now the books, movies, tales and stories, with a romantic or painful view on that era.
Out of concern with our precious earth, Jorne Langelaan, co-founder of Fair Transport, built a sailing vessel and started transporting goods and has been doing so for the past eleven years. On their NorthAtlantic route the ship Tres Hombres carries coffee, rum, cacao and also some tea from an island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean: the Azores.
Paul van der Toolen, owner of The Tea Connection, calls this tea the most sustainable tea on this planet. Organically grown and transported by wind power only. It proves that it gives you a good feeling when drinking and a strong advantage in promoting your product.
The two dutchmen became friends and are now looking for new opportunities. Jorne has started a new company ecoclipper.org and is building a bigger ship, inspired by a clipper from 1857. In the meantime Paul is looking for the teas that can be that “cup of connection” he is looking for to serve his clients.
